Mumtaz - Earrings Elmira
Are you looking to work on a custom-made project ?
Contact Christine Bekaert to share your project, your ideas and work on the creation of a unique interior.
The Mumtaz line speaks of passion, love and sensuality. These creations were inspired by the life in the serails or harems at the Mughal Courts in India. Christine Bekaert’s drawings are made in twisted wire which refer to the sensuous and captivating lifes of women living in these serails. Some of them were very powerful; others were legendary for the passion they inspired. The Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan for Mumtaz when she died in 1631, giving birth to her fourteenth child.
Christine Bekaert draws her inspiration from her environment, where authenticity and emotions are combined. She then creates her designs and selects the materials with which she will work, such as 18-carat gold, brass or gilded silver. Her designs are then entrusted to the hands of her specialised craftsmen, each of whom has a very specific role and an ancestral know-how that has been passed down for generations.
